Pitong Tsinelas launched at Save The Children’s Education Book Fair

Families, publishers, representatives from the government, among other development partners of Save The Children gathered last August 9, 2018 at the Trinoma activity center to celebrate the accomplishments of its FIRST READ program and the launch of its mobile learning application, iMulat.

The different child welfare agencies such as the DSWD, DoH, DepEd and the National Council on Disability Affairs showcased their progresses and needs assessment while the CEO of Save the Children and the Regional Programme Director of Prudance Foundation followed respectively in sharing their gratitude to the collaborators and how they plan to move the program forward. An educational fair was also happening around the activity area as the presentations went on.

This program also served as the launch for the newest book developed under the FIRST READ program through a collaboration with Tahanan Books. PITONG TSINELAS is a board book created to facilitate discussions on numeracy and inclusivity. Limited special edition copies were even produced to include braille sheets. It was moving to see during the story presentation as one blind student was able to read the story onstage along with her four classmates. The special edition books are yet to be developed for the retail market. Its regular board book version is already available in major local book stores and will be sold in its introductory price in the 39th Manila International Book Fair at SMX Convention Center – Manila this coming September 2018.
